First Female Pakistani Suicide Bomber

The Kasmiri spouse of a militant Pakistani member of Jaish-e-Mohammed blew herself up at th ehome of a retired dignitary in the Indian Hindu section of Jammu State.

It turns out she was the "most wanted" female militant in South Kashmir. She was a 22 year old named Yasmin Mohammed Yusaf Ganai Sambora Pulwama. She was married off (in an arranged marriage) to a Pakistani commander of Jaish-e-Mohamed only known as Adnan.

Muslim clerics and diplomats flay West for linking Islam with terror

New Delhi:

Prominent Muslim Clerics and diplomats of Arab countries have charged the West with seeking to link Islam with terrorism, stating only a ''handful of heretic and fundamentalist groups'' are spreading terror in the world in the name of Jihad (Holy War).

''Extremism is a worldwide phenomenon. It is not confined to any particular region or religion. Any attempt to link it with Islam would creat civilisational conflict,'' they said at a seminar on ''Quran for Peace and Progress'', here last evening.

The seminar, which was organised by monthly 'Secular Qayadat' and was attended by Sunni and Shia scholars-Maulana Obeidullah Khan Azami and Kalbe Rushaid and diplomats of Palestine, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Kazkhastan, Algeria and the Arab Lague.

Pandit N K Sharma, who served as political advisor to Narsimha Rao during his tenure as Prime Minister also spoke on this occasion.

In his address, Maulana Azami said Islam was a religion of peace and it taught tolerance, good inter-religious ties, absolute freedom of expression and respect for sentiments of others.

Islam and terrorism were poles apart, he said and added Jihad was waged to fight against injustice and not to kill innocents.

He also criticised the West for supressing the voice of many Islamic nations. Palestinians have been denied their inalianebale rights, while wrong policies of West caused instability in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This is based in the United Arab Emirates, which although is located on the Arab Peninsula, it is NOT vitriolicly anti anything.
This is perhaps because many small countries on the Gulf such as UAE, Baharain, and Qatar became countries themselves only in the 1980's. They ceded from Saudi Arabia. There are a lot of Shiites in these countries as well, so they may see things definately in a different light.

I will post a link to the Khaleej Times. It is in English and targets mostly Indian Muslims and Pakistani's, while it is produced in the UAE.

It is the most neutral Muslim publication I have encountered.
