Seven men were arrested in an anti terror sweep that went through 3 Dutch cities last week. The suspects range in ages from 18- 30 and were detained in the Hague, Almere, and Amsterdam.
The main suspect is 19 year old Samir Azzouz. He is a Dutch National of Morocan descent who was accused (and subsequently acquitted) of terrorism charges earlier this year.
A prosecution statement was put out about Azzouz is as follows: "Azzouz was in the process of purchasing automatic weapons and explosives probably to carry out an attack with others on several politicians and a government building."
Threats have been widely reported to have been made against parliment members. Particularly, Geert Wilders and Ayaan Hersi Ali were threatened for outwardly criticizing the Islamic extremist viewpoints. Both politicians went into hiding after the murder of Theo Van Gogh.
